Girona, Spain

April 30-May 8, 2027

Updated June 22: Maximum 25 Guests

2027 marks our first trip off island to the incredible cycling destination of Girona, Spain. Like our Mallorca offerings, this will be a 9-day adventure, beginning on April 30th and concluding on May 8th. Join us as we ride the same roads used by the pros for training and soak in the breathtaking views of the Catalonia Region. From the foothills of the Pyrenees to the rugged coastline of the Costa Brava, you'll challenge your endurance and pedal through picturesque villages, up scenic climbs, and along winding roads framed by olive groves and pine forests. And when you're not on your bike, unwind in a charming hotel in the heart of Girona savoring a glass of local wine on the roof top patio, or wander the historic streets and discover a wealth of dining options, cafés, and cultural highlights in the old city. This is more than just a cycling holiday; it's a chance to reconnect with your passion and uncover the very soul of cycling! Make plans now for one of the most rewarding and memorable trips you'll ever take—the trip of a lifetime. And if you prefer not to cycle every day, there are countless attractions and activities nearby, so there's truly something for everyone.

Ride, shop, explore, it is all right at your doorstep.

ACCOMMODATIONS

You will be staying at the contemporary 4-star Hotel Gran Ultonia, conveniently located in the heart of Girona’s city center. The hotel sits just a three-minute walk from the Old Town, Girona Cathedral, the Arabic baths and the historic Barri Vell district, placing cultural highlights and charming streets within easy reach. The unique history of the Ultonia began in 1962 when the original three-star hotel in Sant Joan opened its doors. In 2009 an extension added new four-star rooms, and this expanded section became known as the Gran Ultonia. Today the property contains both three-star and four-star rooms — two categories under one roof — all delivered with the same attentive service and welcoming atmosphere.

DAILY ITINERARIES

The focus of our trips is to build your base miles for the coming cycling season or utilize all of the training you have done at the end of the season. As a result, our rides are focused on the physical dimension and not sightseeing, so we anticipate that all guests will have a good level of physical ability and be sufficiently prepared to comfortably ride a variety of challenging terrain. Girona is located between the Pyrenees and the Costa Brava in northeastern Spain and the terrain varies with rolling hills and mountains. Each morning you'll begin your ride around 9:30 AM and return sometime between 2-4 PM depending on the length of the ride and your ability level. Once you return to the hotel, the afternoon is yours to enjoy as you wish.

  • This cycling vacation is a VIP ONLY trip for cyclist who have been on a Mallorca trip with us in the past.

Level A/B | Peloton: GUIDE LED - Fitness is central to my life. I ride my bike regularly on a weekly basis and am comfortable with rides of 3-4 hours or more at a relatively strong pace. At home, I can maintain an average speed of 16-22 mph. Expect 4+ hours of riding between 40-70 mi. and up to 8,000 ft of elevation.

Level B/C | Grupetto: GUIDE LED - I ride my bike on a regular basis either for fitness, to commute to work, or just for fun. I enjoy an active lifestyle with an occasional physical challenge. At home, I can maintain an average speed of 14-16 mph. Expect 4+ hours of riding between 30-50 mi. and up to 4,500 ft of elevation.

  • Due to this being the first time in Girona, everyone will be with a guide. There is a 10 Euro daily guide fee. There is no follow car, so you carry what you need. There is vehicle support in the event of an emergency at the discretion of the guide. But with the support of the guide and the others in your group, you are never far from a flat assist or a boost up that final climb.

  • The terrain demanding. There is plenty of climbing on quiet, narrow, and winding roads; very little of it is flat. Although the ascents are not exceptionally steep, they are often upwards of several miles long and there are multiple climbs each day.

See the itinerary for specific daily ride distances and elevation options. On all of our cycling holidays, Parvilla Travel seeks to find quiet, paved secondary roads to experience a region; busy roads are avoided as much as possible. Our itineraries are an approximation of our trips and routes listed may change at the discretion of the guides to improve the trip experience.
